MAKING A REFERRAL

When we encounter a person in emotional turmoil - either as professionals (teacher, doctor, pastor, social worker) or as significant others in an individual's life (friend, spouse, employer, co-worker, parent) we naturally want to be of help.

As it becomes clear that someone you know may be in need of counselling, it may be helpful to ask, "Are you talking to anyone about this?" Express your concern that they get help from an appropriate source; recommend a professional counsellor.
